QWOW Ladies Beginner Golf Lessons 2025 PART 2
Hey there QWOW friends,
Welcome to PART 2 of our THIRD offering of QWOW Golf Lessons!
The QWOW Golf Story…
In 2022, we started QWOW Golf with a group of 16 amazing women! We enjoyed summer evening sunshine, learning a new skill and creating bonds with other women in our industry. It was a really special and memorable experience.
In 2023, QWOW golf expanded, running both beginner and intermediate lessons over the summer. We hosted monthly golf rounds across Queensland through autumn and winter, playing eight different courses. QWOW had significant representation at both major industry tournaments, as well as invitations to golf socially within the industry.
For the 2024/2025 season:
We will run beginner and intermediate lessons again, but at the same time and place so that we can all come together after to debrief, share a drink, a laugh and some food.
We will also be offering TWO Saturday Ambrose Tournaments at Minnippi so you can take your skills from either stream out onto the course. Coach Jamie will be there to support us, and we will ensure you are paired with an experienced QWOW golfer to help with the transition. For $66 you get green fees, motorized cart, pizzas and prizes at the end. Dates for these rounds will be distributed once the list of lesson attendees has been confirmed.

LEVEL 1: Beginners/Newcomers – 12 Spots available
This is where the fun begins!
We will hit the practice facilities at Minnippi to introduce you to the very basics of golf. QWOW will ensure you are welcomed into the sport with some fun merchandise, and the promise of a golf event each month once the lessons end. Don't worry about equipment - we've got everything you need to get started. No pressure, just good vibes and great company. Last year this program helped create friendships, employment opportunities and a safe place to try (and fail) at something new! We would love to see you here with us in 2024 and beyond!
LEVEL 2: Returning/Experienced Players – 12 Spots available
Welcome back veterans!
We know you want more and we’re excited to help you take your skills to the next level. We will use the grass practice facilities for putting, chipping and short game skills. As the days get longer, we will head out onto the course as well where we will work on club selection, strategy, and match play rules.
There are so many benefits to joining QWOW golf!
Great Exercise: A chance to get outdoors in the fresh air and afternoon sun, engage your core and rack up some steps!
Socialization: No Teams calls here – just face to face connection, shared experiences and conversation with your peers.
Mental Stimulation: Golf requires concentration and focus, which can provide a break from daily stress.

In 2023, QWOW golf expanded, running both beginner and intermediate lessons over the summer. We will also be offering $50 afternoon rounds of 9 holes on select Saturday afternoons at Minnippi so you can take your skills from either stream out onto the course. Coach Jamie will be there to support us, and we will ensure you are paired with an experienced QWOW golfer to help with the transition. Dates for these rounds will be distributed once the list of lesson attendees has been confirmed.

Book Club - Lessons In Chemistry

QWOW Book Club is back in November
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out there is no such thing.
Elizabeth Zott is our new hero at QWOW.
Come and join us as we discuss, debate and generally fan-girl about Bonnie Garmus' first novel "Lessons in Chemistry". Over a glass of wine (optional) and cheese (optional but highly recommended) we'll unpack the story of the incomparable Elizabeth Zott and her journey through a STEM career in the early 1960's.
Oh how things have changed. Oh how they haven't!
All welcome - readers, listeners, chemists, wine and cheese lovers. Even if you haven't read the book, please come along for some great company and chats.

Hello QWOW friends!! The wait is over - New Beginner Golf Lessons have arrived!
In 2022, we kicked off QWOW Golf with a group of 16 amazing women! We enjoyed summer evening sunshine, learning a new skill and creating bonds with other women in our industry. It was really special, and I will never forget it!
Over the last year, this group completed 6 golf lessons and golfed at 6 different golf courses: Bulimba, Toowomba, McLeod, Boonah, Rosewood, and Laidley.
Along this journey we were lucky enough to meet Coach Jamie Brew at Victoria Park Golf Complex. This year, Jamie will also be coaching at the newly opened Minnippi Golf Course in Cannon Hill.
We have decided to create 2 streams of golf lessons for QWOW this season. The first will focus on the enthusiastic beginners and those not quite ready to make the jump onto the golf course. The second will be for experienced/returning golfers who spent time on the course with us this past year. If you are unsure, please give me a call.
Beginners/Newcomers

Lessons are fortnightly and will utilize the grass practice facilities for putting, chipping and short game skills. As the days get longer, there may be a chance to head out onto the course as well. In 2024, this group will move to on-course lessons, where we will work on club selection, strategy, and match play rules.
The Level 2 program has been split in two so you can join us for one or both the series.

Safer Together - RSSWG 100th Celebration
Also on Safer Together, did you know QWOW is now part of the RSSWG? Jo, Layna and Danielle are excited to be formally part of the working group, giving QWOW an ongoing opportunity to contribute to the safety of the industry. The group marked 100 meetings early in July and we were there to celebrate with them. We are looking forward to continuing our collaboration with Safer Together, focusing on finding ways for women to participate and contribute fully in all our industry has to offer.
Lawn Bowls for a Cause
We were thrilled to be represented so well at Lawn Bowls for a Cause this month, sporting our new visors from ChampionX. Congratulations and gratitude to ProTest, Ulterra, Morpheus and OnSpec for a spectacular afternoon, in support of MS Queensland. Congratulations to the QWOW team that took home the wooden spoon as well!
Social Golf - Driving Lessons!
13-June was our second driving range lesson at Victoria Park and the improvements are huge! Coach Jamie refined our driving skills and introduced woods and irons too. It was a fun night out, we welcomed some new players too. Please reach out if you want to join us at the next one.
DrillSafe
On 8-June, Danielle Leray and Joanna Groves travelled to Perth to present at the quarterly DrillSafe forum in Perth. We presented “SafeHER TogetHER” - the origin story for QWOW, our collaboration with Safer Together and the statistics from the QWOW survey of women in the industry.
Safer Together DCIIRP - May 23
At the Rig Site Safety Working Group (RSSWG) DCIIRP on 31-May, Joanna Groves and Layna Smith presented “The Only One” - asking the audience to consider what it might be like to feel isolated and the only one when on the job or in a team. You can watch their presentation here.
